Trying to put in the garden but much smaller than past years. I am
exhausted in trying to get things to grow. Too much rain, to little
rain, to more rain than the ground can handle! The storms that are
coming through did much damage to the midwest, but also the hail here
has wreaked havoc to the plants.

ugh... Slugs! I am starting to see some tomatoes come through though. The peas are
yellowing and I don't see anything coming on them. Surprisingly, I do
have some strawberries this season. I thought all the bad storms and
the huge hail plummeting down on the plants would do them in but I seem
to get a pint or so every day. I don't know if I will try jelly or
not. I need some energy or they will just be eaten or thrown in the
freezer. I did break down and make a layer cake that I will turn into a strawberry cake when I have the whipped cream.
I was ask to a garden party by friend from church. It
was bring a plant, take a plant. Well, actually six. So in trade I
made out pretty good in coming home with six new plants. Among them was
a yucca and a lilac bush!
Mom has a small Chinese maple she started from seed from Grandma Talbot's yard. That needs to be transplanted before winter too. I need to try and keep up with the yard work so I am ready for all the transplanting that is going to be done.
