So off we go with electric. Jessalyn got a crash course in using solder and took the fittings off the old pipes to go on the new pipes. How wonderful to get hot water!
With doing the pigs during a week day, Tom had to split his time off. Going back for one day before thanksgiving gave us time to set the house straight for the long weekend. We didn't have to do much baking for Thanksgiving. Jessalyn made apple pie and there was a request for my carrot soufflé. Becky and Jake did their thing, Ken and Sabrina did theirs, and Tommy had dinner as his dad's with Lisa and Ed. Wednesday night didn't look good for the next day, but it seemed to taper off. We didn't leave until later in the afternoon and going along the thruway it got worse the farther east we went. But we made it!
Coming in late we stayed a little later than planned, but that was o.k. I had buckled up, locked up, and turned on the lights just in case. As you can see, most of the women were in the kitchen or dining room while the guys watched the game. Coming home was quicker than going because the roads were clear and the wind stopped blowing. We had talked about stopping to visit with Ken but it was so late and come to find out they decided to partake in the shopping chaos of the day.
Yesterday, we were at a mindset of doing the pigs today. So Tom went in to work on his truck and get it back home to use them to transport the pigs. He took it in to clean it up a bit, but when it came time to get it back together, problems occurred. Don't they always? Knowing he wouldn't get it together before midnight last night he opt to borrow a truck. At least that will be helpful. Seems Ken bailed on us for help again. I know Tom was counting on him and his strong arm to handle getting them on the truck. Why is it he is helping him all the time getting out of a jam yet he bails when we need him the most. Guess when we strive for self reliance, that is exactly what we get.
