Not to worry about cooking for Easter dinner, I made the ham the day before so that I could separate it from the gravy. It was so easy to pull it out and reheat it in the roaster while we were at church. Jess made pies, and pepperoni balls, I made bread. The plan was to use my tri-crock to heat the mashed potatoes, gravy, and corn. I started making them, and wouldn't you know, the propane ran out! Luckily the gravy had just started to set, so I put half in the crock on high and it was thin, but good. The potatoes were hot already, so that wasn't a problem. I couldn't heat the rolls or defrost the bread because we still don't have a microwave. I took one of the crocks out and put the rolls in the base with a lid. It heated them just fine.
Everyone was here, plus Jake. We had to eat right after church because of two of the kids going to work, and Ken going to the airport to pick up a friend that was out of town.
So by late afternoon all was done and the kitchen was pretty much in order. Even though it was nice enough outside, I had Tom build a fire so that I could have hot water for dishes. I also used the electric coffee pot to make boiling water. It is much better than running out of water!
First thing Monday morning Ken took the tank in to get filled while I went to Bible study. It was one woman's birthday so the host for the study that day made her a birthday cake. We enjoyed that while we did our study.Since I now had propane, I made up another batch of pepperoni balls that were by request because later in the evening, friends gathered back at the home of the woman that hosted the study. Her daughter was in from out of town and had a small surprise anniversary party for them. They are married 28 years now. So we got to eat even more goodies. Her daughter had made oreo cake, one woman brought spinach turn-overs, and I brought the pepperoni balls that she had ask me to bring.
Some closets were cleaned out this week for things to go to the second hand store but the day to go ended up to busy to get there in time. They were calling for heavy frost/snow so I had Tommy go out and help me cover the blueberries and I used old feed bags to cover the smaller ones on the ground. I also covered the two fruit trees. It did snow, but it wasn't all that cold. Even the daffodils made it through.
