A few days later, Jess and I were called up to finish the haying. It was 8:00 p.m. before we were done. Tom and Tommy came right after work, but Jess and I caught and stacked over 150 bale before they came. Riding the wagon when it is so muddy is not fun! But we were finishing putting it up for a friend of ours just before it started to sprinkle. Now we are done for the year!
The days are starting to turn crisp, and the mums are blooming beautifully! I have one plant that my mom said is taking on to much of the water. That is why it is splitting. I hope it will come back next year, it seems that the stems are breaking off at the base.
One of our oldest hens, Baldweena, came up missing. I though she had wandered off into the woods or a predator got her. We have 24 acres for her to roam. But NO! a few days later when Tom was checking the cable outside that runs to the bedroom, he found her. Almost under our bedroom window in the rose of sharon bushes. I am so glad that it was cold. P.U.!
Ken was home a while ago and brought Jenna with him. While he was here, he had a problem with the water pump in his new truck. It had to sit up here while his buddy ran he and Jenna back down state. I took Tom over to check it out. He must have poured three buckets of water in there wanting to see where it was leaking. Bad news. It is going in the oil! He is going to get it towed to work and see what it all needs to get repaired.
While his truck is getting looked at, Tom also has to still look at the van. It needs the brake lines done. It hasn't run since that time a few weeks ago when I tried taking Jess to AWANA. Then, while out gallivanting around one night until curfew, Becky was coming home in the dark and hit a dog on the way. A big dog. It was later the same week that Tom and Tommy were headed to work when over a hill they came and hit a buck. Luckily he took the truck and not my car! It banged up the one corner, but he pulled into the gas station and pulled the bumper out of the tire and he was off. He couldn't be late because that was the morning of the big meeting. Which is....
Big news at work for him. The company is having a group of men come in and inqure about a job. Tom's boss ask if I would come in for a few days and clean the place up. Fourteen hours later, it was swept and the tools put away. Agh! You know how guys can be when they are working!
With the leaves falling, we went to mom and dad's and Jess had to mow and mulch the leaves before they were all over the neighbor's lawn.
While there, Tom took some scrap railroad ties they had out at their old shed. He brought them home and also got more wood to start Penny's stall. It was a few days before he could actually start, and it was getting cooler. They took the stuff back to the barn and started cutting.
The old ties were used for base, then the sizing.
Tommy screwed in the flooring, and Ta Da! Penny now has a new floor! Two down, two to go!

What a blessing to get all that wood. Your flowers are pretty.
