more comings and goings

A long time since my last post! We have been busy here with the hours and days just flying by. We took a Saturday and finished butchering chickens and now our freezer is full. We did have a few 9 and 10 pounders this time, but they also had a little more fat to them, and were a little harder for Tom to clean. We will make a mental note to make sure we do them all within the 12 weeks that is recommended for that type of bird.

The rain has returned with a vengence. I may have mowed only twice since the last post, and even then it was rather wet. The barn door opening that was great all summer didn't take long to revert back to a mucky mess for them to get in and out. I spent all morning yesterday brushing them out only to turn them out for an hour or so and come back in a mess.

The snowbirds have left for the south, and have already been unpacking their bus. Before they left, they gave me a few goodies.

Like these hand painted glasses my Grandmother had, and of course, the famous model that my Dad had made many years ago when he was in school.

I remember seeing it as a kid and it was facinating in a weird sort of way. Now it is mine! I want to get a plexiglass case to set it in so nothing happens to it.

The four little kitties are getting big so Tom had Jess take two in to work for a woman who just loves cats. She really liked this little one. Since I have to compile all my running into one trip, I also went to the laundry mat that day. Jess let this one out. I thought it was funny how she looked like Toonces the driving cat from Saturday Night Live.

Ken wanted to bring Jenna up to visit, so we had an informal dinner and visited for a few hours before he had to take her and head back down for work the next day. She is a really nice girl. Funny how he met her online in a cyber school program that he was in only 3 months (we didn't like the program at all) and they have stayed in contact for six years now. Ken had us meet her and her family twice in that time. Jess was still in gymnastics so when she went to States, we met at a Pizza Hut nearby. They visited and I chatted with her mother for a few hours there! Then we found out they camped off of the little lake that is 1/2 hour south of us She lives two hours south of us, and when Ken started his new job, he found out he would only be about 45 minutes from her and her family. This is good as long as this job site lasts.....
