The past weekend they had tureen at church. Hem-hawing back and forth whether to go or not being hot. I didn't know what to make. After church, I decided to throw together an open taco dish which consisted of shredded lettuce laid out on a plate with taco meat and tomato chunks on top. We stopped and bought chips and sour cream to go with it. Because I was lazy on making it and time, we were running late. Well, headed out a main road to the church, we found a road block that made us later. Coming down over the hill we were faced with a bull coming at us. Poor guy. He seemed scared, not scary. He wanted to get across the ditch and back into the field but the fencing kept him out. Holding up traffic both ways, a guy in a minivan came up from behind him and using it like a true cowboy, used that van to get that big guy off the road and back into the field.
Last night I put a turkey in the big roaster to cook all night. Tom said the smell kept him awake all night long. Once that cools I think I will do the last venison leg. I may go on yet another day and do the ham. I will have many meals all ready to go. It will be only a few short weeks and we will start on the meat chickens out back.
Today I awoke to rain. It is a nice soft, steady rain. I think I hear all the greens outside giving a big "sigh"! Even the cats are coming into the mudroom to eat wet and not seeming to mind. It looks like it is a work inside day of mending and preparing for Vacation Bible School.

I bet the ground and plants was loving the rain! We have a few weeks before our blackberries are ready. I am so glad and they are time consuming to pick. I cooked a turkey on Sunday and it has been nice to have out and do meals with it.
Have a great day with your family.
