With fall coming, I am trying to get the most of my garden that I can. I picked these just before the week-end. Yes, those are strawberries up front in the bottom of the picture! Not many, but some!

Another perk I have been getting is milk. We finally got Belle straightened around and I have been making cheese. I'm not sure of the exact amount, but rule of thumb is that 2 gallons of milk make 1 pound of cheese. I take the batch though and press it to small squares and freeze it. We don't need a pound thawed every time. I just grate a little bit as we need it.

Last Wednesday there was event held nationwide. "See You at the Pole" is an event held every year that give the kids at school to meet at the flagpole in the morning before class and pray for their school, teachers, and other leaders. Rebekah wanted to go this year, so we headed up to the local school for her to participate with others from youth group.

While the students prayed, the adults went up to a local establishment and met and had their own prayer time. This is the first year they did that, hoping the kids would take charge on their own. There were only ten students, but it seemed studendents entering the building were inquisitive. Hopefully it will be a good testimony to them.

While clearing out back this last weekend, Tom came across this tree he wants to cut down. Apparently it was worth saving at one point, because it appears that somebody before us took time to put a tie on it and try and keep it upright. Anyone know if it is worth keeping? There aren't any other like it nearby. I didn't notice any flowers on it earlier this year either.

That's great the kids went to the pole and prayed. My daughter did that one year. I think it's awesome you have your own milk cow! I suggested it to my husband and he proclaimed a firm "NO!" :) I think he's afraid it will become his new chore to take care of it. O well. I tried! Have a wonderful day......Teresa
Your veggies look beautiful, and the milk pic is very inspiring. My husband and I love the idea of fresh milk and making our own cheese. I have some sort of non-lactose-related cow's milk allergy, so we've considered getting a nanny goat and making cheese out of some of the milk. We've considered raising a couple of cows for beef, but maybe a dairy cow would be a wise choice as well for the other members of the family.
God bless you! I love your blog (including the title :-)).
