Homecoming Dance turned out to be more fun than Becky had imagined. Brad and his family had met us half way at Grandma and Grandpa's house (as he lives on the other end of the interstate). He escorted her to dinner at Applebees, then off to the high school homecoming. The weather was much better than the night before when she went to the homecoming football game. Much to cold and wet! The good news is they won the game. That in itself was a treat.
After coming in for Becky, I raced back to our side of the state line and headed south into OH to meet Tom and Jess for the annual OHC end of year dinner. Choice of steak or chicken with lots of desserts to choose from. Our friend Diana that usually rides with Jess was up front handing out awards/thank you's to everyone. All the kids got one for helping in the Ultimate Cowboy race. Diana had horseshoes painted gold with red ribbon attatched. She wrote everyone's name and what they had done on it. It was a cute idea.
After the snow and cold temperatures we have had, the weather took a nice turn. Our neighbor friend Dana (not Diana) had Jess come over and ride her son's horse, named T.J. He hadn't been riden much since he passed away a few years ago. Jess was surprised at how well they worked together since she isn't used to just getting on and riding a strange horse.
The sun was shining so bright, I had to put up a few more pictures of the trees along our thoroughfare along the side of our house. It is so beautiful in the morning sun.
Tommy had written to his brother and sister. He told them all about how he forgot to shave and they made him go out and scrub bird poop with a toothbrush. I'm glad it wasn't worse! He is cautious about what he is doing. He doesn't want to have to start from week 1 again! He said he was getting his dog tags, blues, and going in to learn combat training this week. <sigh> I wrote him and told him to hang in there, only 25 days left! Maybe I'll get another phone call soon.
