Some place nice to get stuck in....

One thing you think we would learn after all these years is not to ask, "Well, what do  you want to do today?"  It really doesn't matter.   You can make a list, voice  your ideas, even take the first step, but it won't be necessarily in the right direction.
This was Tom's second day off.  It was to rain and be overcast most of the day so we were going to do things away from the house.   And it did rain.  And we did do something away from the house.   He had taken Bob out to do the chores because Bob would stay in the barn.   Well, he did until I let Jack out.   You see, with it raining I didn't think they would dilly dally.   It was dark so I had grabbed a swatch of orange material to make a "vest" for the dog as I put them out.  It is much easier to find them.   Brindy scampered around and came back in.  So did L.B.  I put the vest on Jack.  I turned around to do something for a minute and went to call him in.   Well, the vest didn't do any good.  I couldn't see him.   I couldn't see him because he took off!  For 2 1/2 hours Tom and I looked.  I walked the perimeter clapping and calling twice. Only after the first time did Tom tell me Bob was with Jack.  I walked the road.  Tom headed over to the beaver dam.  Tommy was home and took his car around the block.  I didn't think they were south, or out near the road, but I wanted to be sure because of that baghead that gave us problems about 6 years back.
I was right.  I was coming up from the road/driveway when I see Jack racing up the path in the middle of the yard to the door.  I chained him immediately, but of course, no Bob.
Mr. Lumpy would be to tired to go that far or be gone that long.  I had the walkie talkie and sent out the SOS.  Tom was still in the woods so I headed back in.   I got clear back by his one tree stand when I was calling and whistling when I see Bob about 8 yards away fumbling through the woods.  He couldn't hear me because of the wind in the trees but I waved my hands as I started towards him.  He saw me and without stopping trotted over and we headed up to the house.  I still can't believe he made it that far back.  Tom thought for sure we'd find him pooped out and laying down.   Thank goodness he was moving and they are both back.
Jack always is the instigator despite his growing age.
After all was settled down, we still headed out.   Headed off to good ole Field and Stream and Lowes. Woo hoo.
On the way to the thruway Tom spotted a bald eagle from the bridge.
I got a few pictures but got reprimanded for not having my new camera to get a better shot.
We headed in to his work to drop off a tool and met up with Ken for a second.  He and his boss were headed out to lunch in celebration of his last day there.  He is a good and patient man that has helped Ken a lot over the years.
After a decade of working at the complex, he is moving on to a different job.  Something that his electrical schooling will play a hand in.
And what a great husband to play beauty shop with me at 7:30 a.m.!
