Some place nice to get stuck in....

Hunting season began but without luck.   There were many shots in the woods, and few friends got their deer already.   Tom said he saw a few, but not to shoot.   Jess and I were out doing chores and after the lights were turned on we were headed back up to the house and lo ad behold, there were the doe that we usually see strolling up the pines on the east side of the property.  Right up to the other drive and crossing the road.
Tom tries to get home early enough to get out for an hour or so, but not to often this past week.  Tuesday we actually butchered the pig.  Holy cow, more than I thought.  What were we thinking?   We did NOT have enough freezer space.  Luckily it was cold that night that we had coolers and ice packs to keep the overflow cold.  We stuffed our little freezer my parents gave us, and then stuffed in the top part of the fridge freezer and the fridge itself.   All but a cooler and some fat that that Tom put out in a metal 55 gallon barrel with ice and snow to keep cold.  Late Tuesday night I sat on the computer checking craigslist and found a chest freezer right down the road from us!   I was glad they still had it as it was posted over a  month ago.   Wednesday night Tom gave Ken a few bucks to come out and help manpower the freezer into the mudroom.   We moved the smaller upright into the house for now, and will make room in the room Tommy was in.   We have wanted that turned into a pantry for years.
Celebrating another year, I had made Tom a birthday cookie cake. Don't touch the chocolate chip cookie!
He says he really doesn't care for regular cake, but he definitely wanted his ice cream!  We bought him his favorite, maple walnut, as well as two other flavors.  He is set for the week (well, maybe)!  He had to fight back the heat from this one.
