BOOM!
Time: 3:30 A.M.
Me: Hey, what was that?
Tommy: Yeah, I know, right?
Me: Thunder?
Jess and Tommy together: NO! The tree hitting the roof!
Yep, it finally hit the roof. Not from a thunderstorm, not from high winds, but from heavy wet snow. When going out in the middle of the night to check it out, it sounds like gunshots all over. It is actually branches dropping to the ground. Not cracking. That has a slight warning. Just BOOM! Going out at daybreak making observations.
EEK! Not the pool! No, just missing it. A few end branches were resting on the top edge, but that's all.
So much for the trees that are a nuisance to mow under. They will be gone next summer.
These rose of Sharon are usually high above our bedroom window.
And of course, what would any storm be without those hideous poplars falling in the road.
We didn't have electric until 10 a.m. All day on and off wet heavy snow/rain and then breaks of sunshine and beautiful sky.
Well, they are calling for a few more days and nights like this. So here is what is left of the tree behind the house that the elements can taunt.
Spared were the old barn/shed, the barn and other animal shelters. Yeah.
