Getting up and doing all the chores before scurrying out to Little Town. With Tom away at bear camp still, I had to get Jess out to do her schoolwork. She thought she could pick up a signal at the laundry mat, so here I went and stripped the beds and took up all the dog bedding to launder. No signal! So we shot over to the gas station where I bought a coffee and read the new Countryside magazine for an hour.
Back home to let the horses out, dogs out. Here comes Tommy. He had been at the library late the night before so he stayed at Becky's. He said he would take her down to the library for her noon class and I could come down later in the afternoon and pick her up. Coming up from the barn I see he is still in the driveway. Seems he can't get his car to turn over. So with only twenty minutes on the clock before class, I lock up the dogs the house and off we sped to the library. I have to sit there for an hour again because they don't open until 1:00 p.m. She finished class as they opened so she went inside to finish her last class. It is done at 3:00 p.m. so I just decided to stay in the library for two more hours. The gas is eating me up.
It was to my benefit to stay though. While there, I looked through a few Americana crafts and some antique books. A young homeschooling mother from church came in with a few of her children. We chatted for a while in the back of the library where I was sitting, and since she was juggling her littlest one of a few months with one hand and trying to retrieve books with the other, I offered to hold her. What a treat! It is hard to believe it has been 16 years since I enjoyed a little one, but then again, it seems just like yesterday. I held her on my lap as she bounced and giggled and blew spit bubbles. A brief bit of enjoyment for the afternoon.
As Jess finished up school, who makes an entrance but Tommy. He had gotten his car to run, and make a decision to drive it into Little Town. The reasoning is baffling to me. He parked it in a fire zone directly in front of the van, so since it died when he parked, I had to go out and back up the van so he could push the car out of the fire lane. It wouldn't start again.
Not to worry, he felt it would run again and if not his girlfriend would give him a ride home. So I took Jess and came home late in the afternoon.
We tended to the things on hand when once again Tommy came wheeling in the drive.
Looks like I am taxi once again until the car is fixed.
Tom is to come home today/tonight. It will be back in the saddle for all of us.
It is to be wonderfully warm over the next three days too, so maybe uplifted spirits will follow.
