Over the last few weeks the lack of rain has kept me outside more than inside. The first berries came into season! And then more and more came. I tried my hand at three dozen jars of jelly. A friend gave me a recipe that doesn't use pectin or hot bath. It seemed to set up in the pan and adhere to the spoon good, but when I canned it, it didn't set up. It will still be better than we have had over the last few years....which was none.
It seemed the effort I put in to setting the posts for the blueberries was futal. So I had to go back over and dig deeper holes and reset them all. I also found more scrap wood to make a top frame and hold the posts upright. I think it will be a success this time. The berries are coming in better this year too since we moved the plants.

When we did have a day or two of rain, nature was stunned. I found this neat dragonfly sitting under our side porch canopy drying himself. I love this camera!
Over Memorial Day weekend we took time out to go visit Grandma and Grandpa. We brought some dogs and side dishes and had a little picnic.

Jess is ready to ride again. She has gone on her own up the way to ride with a neighbor in the late afternoons.
Started putting in the small plants I had left in the house, and Tom brought home the ones he started at work. Lack of rain had him bring out the portable sprayer and try and keep everything watered. Right now it takes about three gallons to water everything.

The little town had an event for all it's hometown alumni. A couple from church wanted to know if their daughter could come spend the night while they went. Jess put her on Penny when she was here and off they went. It is to bad she has alergies, she sneezed all the way down the road but she said she still loved it.

Just a few more tomato plants. I think we have about 125. Nine rows of 21 plus a few at the ends that are plants my parents brought from Florida. I planted all romas, and they gave me some more meatier heirloom ones to plant.
