Some place nice to get stuck in....

Rainy days meant I can do some inside things on my list. I finally got around to using the sewing machine to do the seams on my couch covers instead of hand sewing. So much neater now and I can actually take them off and launder them! Ken got a kick out of me using my treadle machine so he took a picture!

Over the last week I bought a new ring for my pressure canner so I replaced that and put up 17 more quarts of potatoes. I figured it is roughly 30-36 potatoes per 7 quarts. I had much better luck with them this time!

I still have to make trips to the laundry mat when I let the laundry pile up more than a small load. The morning I went was such a beautiful sunrise I just have to put up some of the pictures. It was rather windy and hanging the clothes outside for a change had them dry and folded all in the same afternoon.

Ken has been on me to ride. I told him I wanted to get all the tack in order before I got on again. Procrastination! Well, I did work on the barn for a few hours moving the feeding hay and sorting all the halters, reins, etc. matching up blankets and saddles. I want to get around to cleaning them too but have to moderate the water. This all being done as we also have to swing back to rain. The southern part of Ohio really got hit good the other morning and we reaped the beautiful sunrise from it.

But then we also had our share .

Friday was the start of Tom's three day weekend, so he decided to go out and work on cleaning up the pines.

Ken went out and worked with the chainsaw while Tom and Jess started burning.

Later in the afternoon Tom and Ken went out shopping and Ken brought home something new for his collection. We went out and did some shooting, I practiced too.

So the stuff was ready to go on Thursday. We brushed and brushed all the horses and all the mud and winter coat came falling off. Jessalyn saddled Penny for me, Ken took her out for a run up and down the road first, then the three of us went out. I had Jess pony me. I don't care. Penny is a good horse, but it has been a long time since I went riding. She felt much different under the saddle than Matthias or Rosie. I know once I get use to her it will be all right.

Meanwhile, Becky and Tommy are busy working. Jess did go to a girls night out with friends from church. They were going to a movie and a sleep over.

Tom is putting a few hours in this morning and then we are headed off to a game dinner in Little Town tonight.

I use my treadle all the time. What kind is your treadle?

I am glad that your potatoes sealed this time. We sure do enjoy our canned potatoes.

What beautiful pictures. I would love to see some warmer weather. We have snow coming in this morning (at least that is what the weathermen say).

Have a wonderful day.
