Some place nice to get stuck in....

For Valentine’s day, Tom and I gave each other a card. I bought him chocolate covered pretzels, and he bought me a single red rose. We ate the chocolate heart that I outlined with vanilla frosting. He bought cookies and cream ice cream for a treat.
Wednesday I was finishing up the bedroom when I got a call from Becky about 9:30 in the morning. “Mom, I was in an accident but I’m not hurt.” Then I hear mumbling. She was talking to the paramedics. Routine, so I wasn’t alarmed yet. I wondered how the other vehicle fared, assuming that was the issue. She told me she thought her car was totaled. Well, Tommy totaled his car when he collided with another vehicle near the house, but no one was injured. So, I simply told her that I would call Tom at work and he would be there shortly. I did just that. As we were talking on the phone he was headed out the door. Ken was at work with him that day so he went with him. It was a few hours later and I was beginning to wonder what was going on. I knew that there were probably reports being filed, cars being towed. But when Tom finally did call, I ask him if the car really was totaled. He replied, “HEATHER, THE CAR IS ON IT’S ROOF!” Well, Rebekah failed to mention that part!
Apparently, she had gone to the credit union that morning to get money out for tires and her registration. She was putting the money in the visor above and when she looked back at the road she was crossing the yellow lines. She over corrected herself and threw the car to the right, then tried to correct herself again and swerved right and left at which point she left the road, hit the ditch along side, and flipped the car. Tom and Ken were not prepared for what they saw coming up on the accident. Tom said that if she would have swerved only once, she would have definitely hit the telephone pole. As it was, she ended up a few hundred yards from it.
She said landing on her roof, she undid her seat belt and her head hit the roof. She realized she was upside down. She tried kicking out the window, but it took a gentleman that was behind her car to come up and break the glass so that she could get out. She had just put $30 in her gas tank and apparently it ruptured and she could smell it. The engine was still running, so they got back real quick. One guy did manage to go up and turn it off though.
She managed to not have a single scrape. The paramedics checked her out and she seemed o.k. She was a little stiff this morning though.
So now the car was towed to work, the guys are going to take out the stereo and anything else that might have been overlooked, see if they can re inflate the tires, and then see if they can get it to the junkyard so she has a few buck to use towards a new ride. Right now, I had to take her to work this morning and Jake will bring her home. I think tomorrow she will take Tom’s van as it is his “day off”.
Today was a dreary rainy day, and a real down day. After all the excitement yesterday, It really was a do nothing day. Sort of my vacation day. I had to take Becky to work then I came home and got the small propane tank to take in and get filled. At least we will have a stove and hot water for a few more days. Then I picked up some sewing and worked on that. It really wasn’t that cold today. It would have been nice to go out and be in the yard since the snow is melting yet again and if it weren’t for the fog and rain.

I'm so glad no one was hurt in the wreck. Cars can be replaced but not loved ones. :)We haven't had any snow this year. It would be nice to have one good snow. Have a great day.

Blessings,
