I had a old electric coffee pot hidden in the back of the cupboard so I pulled that out this morning to make coffee and transfer it to my stove pot to keep warm, and then to heat water for dishes. I'm going to heat one more pot to take to the animals and add to their bucket just to take the chill off. We awoke to some snow this morning, and they are forecasting 3" today, plus 3" more tonight. Winter may have arrived, if only for a day or two.
Some place nice to get stuck in....

Last week we ran out of water for the day. This morning we awoke to the propane being out. It is difficult to judge because Tom has piggy-backed the big tank with a 100# tank. We can generally afford taking it to get refilled compared to the astronomical pricing of the local propane fill.
So this morning, I stoked up the stove and made my egg sandwich. It wasn't extremely hot, but heated the pan enough to get the job done. I can't boil water on it, but it makes for warm dish water. I set the cast iron pan over the plate that opens and closes for the coal bin. It isn't in there because we are using wood right now, so the heat is pretty good. I ask Tom if maybe we could open the lid and he could make an aluminum plate to go over the opening. It might make it a little hotter for cooking.
