Dancing!

The last of recitals for Rebekah. The weekend after her graduation party was the finale of dance for her. She has danced 15 years now. It was great that the whole family could come, and even my brother Bill could make it.
The theme was I Love NY, with each of the dances having some kind of relation to NYC, with one dance dedicated to a specific firefighter that one of the dancers knew that was in 9/11. The opening number was "I Love New York" with the little ones to follow singing many tunes from the '40's that are traditional with Times square. Sometimes I don't know how they linked the song and dances together, but it was all enjoyable.

Becky's first number was a tribute to the Harlem Globetrotters. The girls had to incorporate basketballs into the beginning of the routine. Unusual, to say the least. After they ditched the balls, the tap was terrific! Well, after she collected herself from having Tommy yell out her name and scare Grandma half to death. She took a few steps, just stoppped (losing concentration) and then resumed. I didn't catch it until we saw the video afterwards. Too funny!

Her second dance I don't know what they thought to connect it with New York. It was some type of ethinic jungle dance. !!!! She did her jazz steps to that one. Here she is with Grandma and Grandpa after the dance.

It was a bittersweet time with remembering all the years past, and seeing her dance that night.
