March for Life

The weather stayed so bitter cold that when we arrived at the church for our bus ride to D.C., the temperature was reading -15.   We were to catch the bus at 11:30, and a quick call revealed that they were having problems with the bus.  The dispatcher ask that we give the driver another 1/2 hour as he was changing buses.    It took longer than that.   over an hour after we were to be picked up, the bus arrived. Apparently, there was a problem with the first bus not wanting to de-ice.   Hmmm, wonder why?

The driver ventured out in the second bus, but arriving in the parking lot he was still concerned about the ice.   It just wasn't de-icing around his mirrors or on his window enough for him to see and he was concerned about travel on the highway.   Since our travel was to be in the cold and dark both coming and going,  the group opted out of traveling down.  It was getting to late to get there for the itinerary that was made, and everyone was very tired and cold by then.

We piled back in the car and driving home noticed it had dropped to -20.   I think we were all glad just to be home where it was warm, even though we were disappointed we missed the trip.   I did get to see the rally by satellite.  The speakers were very good.   But I also watched in the warm living room,  not in the 18 degree weather that was there, not the predicted 30's.   You could see them shivering!

I will have to put the posters away for another year.
