cold days

It has been cold, and the snow crunches.   Then it warms up just enough to fall and get heavy and wet.   I keep my fingers crossed for my blue spruce out front.   It is finally a good size, and I love to smell it as I go get the mail, or mow in the summer.  I go out and try to relieve some of the weight from it's grand branches, but I am afraid they will snap either way.  The cats just wait.....they run out on the porch, look around, and run back in.  I wonder what Baggy is thinking?

When the spurt of warmth came, the ice started melting off the Christmas greenery I hung on the windows.   The cold winds were still blowing, and as they dripped, they blew the water at the kitchen window. Look how this icicle formed attaching to the screen.  It was like a support beam.  It went from the decoration to the screen and was about 3/8" thick.

No snow days here.   Jessalyn works on her Spanish.

The girls and I consider this playing outside.

Jessalyn gets wood to put in the mudroom, and Rebekah and I push the snow off the roof of the barn.   The top is metal, but we couldn't finish the sides this last year and they have  roofing paper.  All the snow slides down on the sides leaving to much weight.  I think there was 4' of snow up there that we pushed off.

Wow- this looks very familiar. lol We've had tons of snow -- so pretty, i love it! We picked up another 5 or so inches yesterday and it's snowin' again out there!
I love the snow so it doesn't bother me....it's those 15 below nights that have gotten a bit CHilllllY--but I wouldn't change it--I love the mountains we live in!
We don't have too many snow days either, although my husband alllllmsot called one yesterday... :) The children love having Dad as principal ;)
Have a great weekend!

The snow on the tree is beautiful. We have one blue spruce in our yard and I like it. It isn't very tall, but it is finally growing.

I like the icicle picture. We don't take snow days either, unless the power is out for a long time.

Have a great day and stay warm.

You get a lot more snow than we do. I like snow, but I get enough here. :) Loved the icicles.
