Bitter cold

When you get up and find it is -10 on your way to church at 8:00 a.m., you know it is cold.  When you head down the road and you see the cold hanging like fog, you know it is cold.

The goats were still chilled, but their sweatshirts kept them warm when they laid together in their house.
