Ups and Downs

The local  gas station gives .05 off a gallon of gas if you go in first and buy a plastic pre-pay card.   Along with this, they are doing a promotion that involves a printed number on the back of the card.  Every week these numbers can win you $$ in gas, up to $100.   Tom always checks his pre-pay card and then sweeps up others he many find that people have carelessly discarded.   He did that last week and upon checking it, found he won $50 in gas!

A few men  at the church band together and headed to the mountains Friday night.  They were going bear  hunting.  As of Saturday night no one had seen any signs of a bear.  He is going to stay until Monday and hopefully will at least get a look at one.

Talking with my neighbor friend, she volunteered to take Roni home with her tonight.  She brought Sister down in her place, the little doe that was her baby in the spring that we thought we were going to lose.  She had nursed her right back to health and  she is a noisy thing!  I have never heard a goat  bleat like she does.  Well, she came to take Roni because her health has not been good.  I had high hopes that the sulfur would help as well as the booster shots she gave me for her.  Unfortunately, when we go out in the morning, she doesn't want to get up.  At first she would lift her butt and try and we would carefully lift her up on her front hooves.  They she was fine.  Now, she doesn't even want to try to lift her butt.   We have made her and when she is up she is fine, but the in between is agony for her.  It isn't fair to her.  So, we wait to see what comes of her solitary up at the other barn.

Scratch has not been up to par to say the least.  I think he had a heart attack, stroke, something.  He came into Becky's room before the weekend and cried and tried jumping on the bed.   He barely made it.   Then she said he was laying funny.   All he has done is sleep the last few days.   I have tried feeding him water a little at a time, and also water with Kayro syrup.  He is still going, but he is very week.  Just when I thought he was on his way out, I find him walking around.  After a little exercise I put him back in his bed, or even into a high side box to sleep for his safety.  Other than his persistent problem of sinus, he almost acts like the other cats did over the summer where they slept for days and then before you know it they were up and out like normal.   We had it happen to a few cats.  The first ones we thought they were poisoned.  They acted lethargic and if they did get up, they  looked like they were suffering from vertigo.  Never did find out what it was but they are all doing fine without any re-occurrences.
