another day

The pigs are getting big!  Tom has aquired milk to give them and they get at least a 1/2 gallon a day.  A quart in the morning, a quart in the evening.   He also picked up a few bags of ear corn and they love that!   I use it as bait to toss in the pen and divert their attention when I have to put the milk bucket in.   They are getting solid and to hard to push away when you need to get in there for cleaning the water dish or giving them milk.                                    

The little ones are getting quite fiesty!  I was worried that they weren't going to get enough milk, but they are romping everywhere.  They jump up and down all over the place in their pen.   Stanley watches intently, but he doesn't show any insterest in hurting them.  Not even when one decided to sneak through the slats.   Tom found some scrap wood and extra panels to put up so they won't do that again.

The garden is coming to an end.   The cooler weather isn't helping with my eggplant.  I see lots of purple flowers, but no eggplants.    The strawberry bushes have gone mad, and on some days I can still pick a few good ones.  You can see the small one right there on the left  in the picture. 

 

Just had to throw One-Eyed Sam in here.  He's just waiting for his attention. 

                     

   We had an accident in our neighborhood that resulted in a funeral these last few days.  I volunteered making rolls for the dinner.    I came  home friday night and made two big cookie sheets of dinner rolls.   They turned out o.k, but they raised big enough that they looked like pull aparts.  So I got up Saturday morning and made more rolls but raised them in the cupcake tins.  I ended up with 4 1/2 dozen more rolls.  Apparently, there weren't as many people as they planned, so they remainder were sent back home.  I have a lot in my freezer now.  That is o.k. the pull aparts will make great rolls for chicken and biscuts or beef and gravy when it gets cold.

While I was baking those yesterday and the oven was hot. I also made my carrot souffle and coleslaw for a side for a dinner today.  We are joining friends from church for a shrimp boil and I was ask to bring a veggie dish.  Carrot souffle is veggie, right?
