working hard, hardly working

Such nice days we have had.   Even the little bit of snow had come and gone.  It was time to start working.

After years of back and forth with the sidewalk, the conclusion was to shape it from the driveway to the two doors.   Tom and I started pulling them up from the old walkway that went from the driveway through the fallen pines to the yucky mudroom.

We started laying them down in this pattern:     The goal is to fill in the top of the "y" with woodchips and plants/shrubs/flowers.  Nothing to deep as all the lines come into the one corner of the house.  Tom has other ideas using treated lumber, but that will come later.   I want to fill in around the blocks though for now when the weather dries up a bit and will have a nice edge along side them.  We are looking into what type of paint to use especially for siding.  We have decided to paint the house a deep, deep, green.   While we were doing this, Becky was out raking all the leaves up at the front by the road.   Tons and tons!

You can tell spring is on the brink of being here.  I've heard peepers now even after the cold and some of the snowy nights.   The turkey vulchers are back too.  Swarming overhead morinng and gathering in the evening to nestle into the tall pines across the street. Neat hearing the fluttering of their big feathers flapping around and settling in for the night.   These  willows are coming out too!

Keep looking at flooring.  I hope to be able to post pictures soon of our new livingroom floor.   As soon as Tom picks it up, that is!  Last night we were looking and I found the green for Jess' floor.   That is what I painted today.   I'm trying to talk Becky into black floor that I can stencil with her blues and browns.   So for now she has nothing. The bathroom is waiting for the new toilet before Tom lays that vinyl down.  I know what colors are going in there.   I think I have enough leftover for the walls from another project, and then I have to make dark blue curtains.  I know I just painted it last year, but this will look great with the much needed replaced floor.

On a side note, an insurance adjuster is to be stopping out soon to take a look at my car.  Yet again we have had another mishap.   Last spring, a woman came to buy some of Jess' bunnies and when leaving her husband side swiped my car door in our driveway.   Then just before I left to see Tommy graduate from BMT  I went into a ditch at the gym.   Well, last week we went out and were doing shopping. Becky wanted to use her gift cards.  It was getting close to lunch and the girls were hungry.  I want to stop at the gas station and just get crackers.  But NO!   We went through the drive-thru at the local fast food place.   I was patiently sitting there  waiting to pay when the guy in front of me in his big chevy trailblazer decided to back up...into the front bumper of my car.   Minor damage, But still Tom thinks this is noticable enough to a dealer if we were to take it in for trade.   I went to get info from him and all he had was his license.   Nothing with ins.  I was not happy.  The cashier hung out the window wanting us to move on and I explained what was happening over his crazy passenger yelling at me.  Hey, they had no insurance proof!  So I had the cashier as witness, took the license plate number and the info he did give me to call his ins. people.  He was pretty nice about it, not the passenger though.

He left, I paid and pulled up and called the number.  No surprise.  BOGUS!   Looked in my rear view mirror and there was a state policeman driving trough so I jumped from my car, hailed him down and quickly explained.  He took off lights going.  After a bit of time, another policeman pulled up and directed me to Splash Lagoon where the original officer was waiting.

He straightened everything up, got a hold of the insurance company (he did have it, not the card is all) and now things are moving right along. It wouldn't have been such a circus if he had the right number for his insurance.

What an exciting day for me and the girls.  Where's that hot cup of tea?

Sounds like you have a lot going on there. We would love to do some things, but are not wanting to spend the money right now. Debt free is where we are headed. :)
