not much

Trying to get back in the saddle,  I took Rosie out with friends for a short ride.  She didn't hesitate jumping a small area of over run water.  Wasn't quite ready for that. All it all it was a good ride but the ground was still a little soft and when poor Rose tried stepping over the ditch, she slipped her foot and down she went.  Rolling off her shoulder I popped back up and got hold of her.  It didn't bother her because she didn't go all the way down.  This is the third time I have "dismounted"  by rolling off a horse.  I had ridden another horse that tried to roll in a grassy field and I rolled off, and then later that day the same horse sank a little to far into the water bed and I rolled off him then!   If I have to get off a horse, that is the way I tell  you.

We were granted a visit from Ken last Thursday night before he went off to fire practice. He had come to pick up his mail and then he had dinner with us then went on a spin with Jess around the country block on the bikes.   Nice to see one of the boys once in a while.

Always something fun going on in the barn.

Alas,  how do you keep them apart?    Dad,  please fix those bunny doors!

This past weekend Jess went for an overnight ride south of here.   Poor Rosie was left alone.  I tried to let her out in the pasture.  Luckily she wore a lead because she still broke through the fence trying to find her buddies.   Without Methias now and then Dusty gone, she was really lost!   We kept her busy watching us while we moved the bunny cages over to an end stall but she still paced and paced knickering all the time.   She  was so excited when Dusty finally came home!

Here the girls are watching us move their bunny neighbors across the barn.

Slowly the garden is growing.  Some things look good,

corn

green beans    I have bagged about four quarts already

banana and hot peppers   There were no green ones to be had this year, and my seeds didn't come up. some are not growing very well.

pickles

and eggplant

I don't know why I can't grow eggplant.  I started these from seed in April.  I transplanted them and this is all the bigger they are getting.   Any suggestions?
