Greenery

I had mentioned a while back about the green house that Tom had brought home for me.  It is just a frame with plastic sides and a roll blind that pulls over the top and down the front.   I have it here in front of my front door (we don't use it like we do the side door)  because as soon as I started them, it snowed for two days.

I'm glad I brought them in.  Look at them!  Cabbage, cauliflower, brocolli, onions, pickles,  sunflowers, some herbs, some flowers.   I may have to start the lopes and watermellons again if they don't pop soon.

I start them in egg cartons, watered and closed for a week or so, then open them to stretch.  They will have to be moved to bigger pots soon if the weather doesn't break.

Another trick I use after I get them in the ground is soda bottles.  I mentioned in a previous post how I cut the bottoms off and use them to cover each plant to protect them from frost.  This works very well too!

Tom had surprised me with roses yesterday.  I wanted to snap a picture before they started to fade.   As you can see, the orange one is almost ready to be hung upside down to dry.

He also brought home some Azaleas.  I'm not sure how to take care of these ones.  I think they will die if I plant them outside, even in a few weeks!
