on my other two does to deliver. They had an outing yesterday when I led them out to the green grass under the pines. The little one followed mom and snuggled under a tree. The girls went riding much to Mathias' dismay. I am leary of taking him long distances on the road because I don't want problems with his leg. He seems so much better since I have had his shoes pulled. I did promise the girls I would get on and ride the acres this week though. Maybe some slight trailblazing while we are at it so Tom can start brushogging. The sun is to shine all week!
Last night we traveled back down to town as they were having a church softball game after dinner. The older kids played, but we were two of the few adults that were content to watch. There were enough people to make up two games! What fun. They are talking about a fun volleyball game in the the next few weeks.
Five a.m. and the daylight is breaking. I may just have to get dressed and start outside before the sunrays become to strong.

Hi Heather. I hope today is the day for your does. New life is always so exciting.
To answer your question about Whoop Up Trail Day, almost every small town in Montana has a specific celebration day. Generally there are parades, breakfasts or barbeques, etc. It is a chance for people to gather together either just for fun like our town's day or to raise funds like Fairfield's Swim Day, which raises money each year for the operation of their swimming pool.
Yesterday my husband took my daughter and son to the local rodeo (part of the celebration) and I got to stay home. I have to admit, I don't enjoy rodeos, but I'm not a native Montanan. I was born in Pennsylvania!
I believe the Whoop Up Trail extended from Great Falls to the Canadian border and was used to smuggle liquor across the border during Prohibition. Sadly, liquor remains a large part of the celebration.
We will likely attend two more small town celebrations this summer: Choteau's 4th of July and Fairfield's Swim Day. I will mention them in my blog as well.
Have a wonderful week!
Blessings from the Big Sky Country.....Denise (prairiemom)
