just very busy. Blogging is fun, but life is priority! Many things have happened here on our homestead. While we were busy still having snow fall in March, my parents had decided to travel south, then west out to see the Grand Canyon. This leaves us taking care of two homesteads! The time went quickly for them having so much fun and now they are back home where the weather is clearing up.
Sadly, we have lost one of our strays that had made her home with us. Our Shepard Grace was left on the side of the road, "puppied out" a few years ago when we stopped to pick her up. She was a very good dog, and it amazes and saddens me that people can just leave animals like that. She took to us right away and was a great guard dog. Never leaving her new home to stray away. Unfortunately, her back half had left her immobile to get up and move about. Such hard decisions when we take animals into our lives.
As time progressed I became over anxious to plant the garden for the year. I downsized to only about 20x30, and now wish that I hadn't. I have run out of room already and still haven't put in the watermelon, tomato, and pepper. Thought I would try eggplant this year too.
Cutting back of children's activities, we are getting more done around the yard this year. We started last year with trimming back and starting flower gardens. This year we had men trimming trees out here and we were blessed to get the whole truck load in which we put around the beds and trees. So far the chickens aren't getting into any of it!
ECHO, which is the local homeschooling co-op has now finished the season. We are struggling to finish the school work so that we can have fun for a while. It is hard when you wake to see the sunlight coming through the trees, hear the turkeys in the back field. I have to say, it is quite a spirit lifter to look out and see the green leaves springing from the trees in early hours.
I can't understand why I can't put up pictures but I do have more to share. Anyone else blogging here that can help me understand why the format changed and why I am having difficulty I would really appreciate the help!
