The Money Pit

Ever see this movie?

I am starting to relate to it a little too often.  The last two nights have been very short due to the water pump kicking on.

 Time:  11:30 p.m.

 Date:  The night before last

Just as we were getting comfie in bed, the tap in the kitchen detatched under the sink spraying hot water all under it, and flooding from wall to wall.  Under the cabinet, under the fridge, under the stove.   It was all located under the south wall, thankfully to the settling of the house and it's lean that way. Grabbing the big shop vac (which was thankfully handy as earlier in the week we had septic problems) , hubby begins to remove all the water.  I find myself  rearranging everything it it's path. Falling into bed over an hour later, we are thankful to get four hours sleep before morning.

Time:  2:00 a.m.

Date:  Last night

Last night was a night of few winks as for some of  "woman's intuition"  or something  I awoke to hear the pump kicking on twice in five minutes.  Waking my dear husband,  he was overjoyed to jump out of bed to investigate.  He didn't see the gauge on the pump  moving, so he thought it would be alright until morning...until just after settling back in bed he heard it kick on too.

While he was checking inside for leaks again,  I suited up in my overalls and muckers, grabbed his new flashlight and headed out doors.  Shortly after 2:00 a.m., I began my trek of starting at the outside spigot.  No satisfaction of a leak. It doesn't turn off, so carefully making my way around the house as not to touch the hot fence during the downpour we were having  I slinked under the kids windows, following the hose as it went winding back through the pines  until I heard it.....A LEAK!  Spraying ever so steadily out into the middle of nowhere making it's own little land of muck amongst  the glop everywhere else in the yard.

I had shortened the hose by replacing the nozzle and headed in before hubby even realized I had headed out.  He proceeds to turn off the main just in case for the night.   Mission accomplished!   I take two headache pills and head off to bed.  Thank goodness for pain relieving drugs and three hours of sleep!

I can hardly wait to see what the next surprise may be......
