High notes, low notes

Well, what  a day.  Started out the same as any other day.   We were getting some schoolwork done when we noticed that Jess' horse was out again!  Same as any other day.   They are so tired of all the mud that they just want out!  Well, us girls went out and opened up the entire pasture so that maybe they would be more content.   When gathering them back up to get them inside the fencing,  Dusty (the haflinger)  decided that where she was is better than where we wanted her to be.  She cow kicked Jess on the outside of her thigh.   It was hard enough that it dropped her and she lay there crying.  Of course I didn't see this, so I didn't know where she got it this time.   After finally calming her down enough to find out what happened,  Becky and I rolled her over and slipped off her boots and got her into the house.  It was swollen pretty bad, and I decided that this time would be a good idea to get her off to the doctor.  After a few hours in town and two examinations from two doctors and a few xrays we found that it was just a terrible bruise and they recommended that she stay off of it for a few days.   No gym for her this week!

On a higher note,

I was blessed earlier this week  with a book from a friend.    The Encyclopedia of Country Living by Carla Emery.

What a great book!   If you love living in the country at all,  this is the book for you.  It will enlighten you on so much!
