Holidays are over, now back to business. I had started taking things down little by little and now the tree can come down and be packed away for next year.
Not much snow for the holiday, but we went from this
to snow and ice. But not without the pump giving out. It is a good thing I looked into it. Sure enough, water was rising. Tom had left our extra pump down in the crawl space but had a small one out in the barn. It trickled some water, but not enough. He brought home one of the pool pumps from work the next day but it just wouldn't work to get the water out. So one more day goes by using the small one and he brings home a bigger one. Finally! Within hours the crawl space is empty. What a mess. That is on the to do list for sure.
And with going back to work, no one was thinking of coal for the stove. Tom took off in his truck with the bags in the bed. Well, great. I will just go get a bag until he comes home. Nope not so easy. I put the dogs in and go out the door. Oops! Forgot I had a flat. Turn off the car and go get the air compressor in the barn..in the rain...Oops again! Turn on the the outside light where the outlet is. No, go back and unlock the door to throw the switch, to turn on the light in the mudroom that turns on the outlet outside. Finally! Icy rain but ready to go.
Now back in for a while, let's get warm and get down to business of resurrecting the norm of the house again.
Bread....laundry....meals....
