On a very sad note, things have been on a fast track since Jessalyn's graduation in May. I am busy here trying to get things organized for winter, for holidays. I am usually pretty good about getting a schedule and it helps me stay on track.
In the whirlwind of getting things done, sometimes I still forget things I am suppose to do. Usually it is no big deal, and only an inconvenience or irritation to me. This time it was a terrible tragedy.
Everyone had headed out to work in the morning. I had many things I wanted to do for Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow so I wanted to jump on the morning chores. I got the water ready, the dogs had been ran and fed, and I am bundled up to head out to the barn. Not thinking...
I got done and came in and found 'Rita laying on the floor in front of the coal stove. I don't know what happened, but I can guess. I had forgot to put Brindy in cage. The dogs had already eaten, so I didn't think about it. Usually my routine includes locking them in the cages to eat while I am out at the barn so I have no worries. I simply forgot.
It really didn't seem as though it was a vicious thing, but I think she thought 'Rita was a toy. Not hearing anything, she didn't have a chance.
I am so sorry 'Rita.
