This one he hasn't shown me how to use but that is o.k. If it is that bad I don't leave. I do busy myself with breaking the ice and icicles and a bit of sidewalk shoveling when I run the dogs. They love this stuff.
Especially when they busy themselves checking out where the deer have been. We had eight one night wrapping around the back to the front of the house looking for something to eat. My yard looks like a dozen horses have run through it.
Amidst of all the cold, wouldn't you know that a certain "drainpipe" froze up. Backing up the tub in a most disgusting way. Of course, Tom has to come home from work when it is just getting dark, so there he was out there with his headlamp on digging and trying to unfreeze the pipe. I think it was -5 or -10 out there that night. Jess was out there with another light, and Ken came home and was helping with the snake. I was manning the drains inside.
So the electric tape is still plugged in, not knowing when we can turn it off.
Apparently, it was warm enough one day to start the leak flowing again in Tommy's room. Paper, paper, paper to soak it up. Again, maintenance man Tom makes it home from work and up top shovels the snow off the valley and the flood stops.
