Today was the day we did the chickens. The debut of the whiz bang was fair to good. We had a few with broken wings and legs due to getting stuck within the fingers of the tub. Tom felt it was a belt slipping. Getting it a little wet when cleaning made it slip. For the most part all went well. We had a young couple from church come and learn how to butcher, clean, and cut them. They took a few, neighbor friends got a few, and that left us with about 40 for ourselves. I am cutting and freezing the breasts, bagging the wings, and canning the thighs and drumsticks. Some were so long that they didn't fit in the quart jars, so I baked them and we ate those right away.
