Some place nice to get stuck in....

Hustle and bustle shopping and preparing for Easter dinner.  It was simple, but a lot of food to prepare.  We ask the extended family to come this year.  We ended up having 15 altogether in our little home.  Tom and I did some shopping to prepare, being sure to pick up another 10# ham.  Thirty pounds of ham was just enough!  All the kids went to Easter service with us, Ken bringing his girlfriend.  They came over directly after church, so I had her help me prepare the potatoes.  I had made almost everything a day or two before as to cut down on dishes, but potatoes were last minute.  I also cheated!  I had her make three boxes of fake potatoes to eat with the ham gravy.

We had many pies.  Apple, coconut, pumpkin, and chocolate.  That was awful.  I had not put enough sugar in the chocolate.  Yuck! Everyone stayed about four hours that afternoon. There was enough to send a few leftovers with everyone, plus a loaf of bread each for Becky and Ken.

Weather is up and down making temperament do the same.  One day you want to get down to business, the next is cold and you want to hanker down inside.   Nature is frustrated too, I imagine.  I was out over the weekend with it being sunny, but only mid 30's.  I saw bubbles in the standing water near the garden and heard the peepers.  I see the turkey vultures flying around circling their summer nesting area.  Signs of spring, yet not the temperatures.  Yesterday the sun was out and even though I had to wear a parka, I weeded some of the front garden.  I plan on doing more this week if the sun returns.
