Miss Mittens was one of our first adopted cats. I was invited to share in a yard sale from a woman I had just met while attending a new church in town. One of her friends had brought a box full of newborns that she thought could be adopted out at the sale. I took one look at Miss Mittens and her divided color on her face and knew she had to come home with us. I had never seen a tortoise shell cat before. We had only two other cats at that time. Can you imagine? Two? Kunte Kitty and Patches. Over the years Miss Mittens has had her times. At one time I was so upset she started omitting the litter box that I tossed her outside. I guess you could say she was our first outside cat! She disappeared for a long time. Ken was so mad. He really liked her. Then one day, there she was! She stayed with us after that, but as all the other cats would learn, mudroom and outside. Once in a while we would take her in and love her up, but back out she would go. I can't have cat smell in here!
This would be her her 15th year, I think. It was starting to get cold out so I made sure she was in at night to be warm. She didn't mind. Then in a quick turn, she seemed to have caught cold. Her breathing was wheezy and she became lethargic. We held her during the day, and put her in the dog cage by the fire at night. Within a few days she was gone. So this is yet another cat this fall.
I noticed that Blossom had looked a little tired and she was breathing funny for a while. Now she is just fine and out running around.
Bernie, on the other hand, while still eating, drinking, and going, is sleeping a lot, a little on the difficulty side of breathing. What is going on? I just tried practically force feeding him a thimble of cooked chicken, and giving him a few syringe of milk. I have allowed him to come in and sleep by the fire as long as he keeps using the box.
Ken found a place and within a week his is out and gone. This time he took almost everything he owned from his room. Guess he really doesn't want to come back this time! He has been busy putting in new carpet and tile, cleaning and moving furniture. I know he is excited to get back on his own.
Jess and I went dress shopping for a homecoming dance. She decided on two, with the idea of one for spring, but decided the spring dress would not wait and wore it the other night. I think it is because one of her friends had almost the same dress, only a different color.
Color is one thing that is abundant right now.
I'm a little sore myself this morning after mowing Mom and Dad's yard yesterday. The leaves are falling there and city dwellers can't have them laying around!
