Tom started working on remodeling the chicken's "summer" house. It is the old goat house we used for the ladies. We are expecting our meat birds any day now and since we are getting a few more this year, we need more room. We decided to use this house for they layers and take the partition out of the old one to make it bigger.

Keeping the berried covered has paid off. The blooms are plentiful! I suspect we will be picking in the next few weeks if the sun stays out!
After church on Sunday, Jake came out for spaghetti and meatballs and brought along his skeet stuff. Tom took them to the back of the pasture and shot a few skeet before the kids had to go to work.

We need to move our meat birds out to the hen house this weekend. They have enough feathers now that they can be out there and not in our shop.
Yummy berries. I noticed that our strawberries had blossoms on them. I can't wait for them.
Have a wonderful day.

I have been trying to find a way to get a new chicken house. I have a building to use, but it needs to be moved. Will your meat birds be inside all the time, or do they have a yard to go into?
Our meat birds will be inside for 8 weeks or so depending on how fast they grow. The house is 8x8. Since they are 12 week butchers, the last few weeks we wil be letting them out in a fenced area for the day. I don't want 40 chickens running around my yard!
