New Years Day! What a beautiful way to start the year. It is unseasonably warm in the 40's today, with the little bit of snow we had melting away.
Last night we did go for a short while to a friends home where we had lots of goodies to eat. I took the pepperoni balls and sauerkraut balls. Neither lasted a long time! One friend brought her Sweet Hot Pepper spread. It is just what it is poured over cream cheese. Goood! The host and hostess made the sausage and kraut, and then there were desserts. One I really have to try. I don't know what it is called, but I will call it "Joan's Jello Dessert".
There were a few high school kids there that set fireworks off about 11:00 for the adults, but we had already left by then.
We came home and basically fell asleep on the couch. About 12:10, Tom came over to wake me up and give me a New Years kiss. I missed it! We dragged ourselves off to bed.
New Years morning we headed off to church. There was a big game Sunday afternoon between Steelers and Browns. We invited two families over to watch it. I didn't realize we could fit 12 people in our small house! So I guess it is a good thing we had Grandma's 9ft couch!
Being spur of the moment to invite so many, I was grateful to have to pick up only a few things to munch on. I made homemade pizza, and thanks to my wonderful pressure canner, was able to cook up a deer leg and keep it warm in the crockpot for sandwiches. I had a few other sides here too. I had bought Steeler ice cream the day before (to celebrate of course) for when we would naturally win the game. So we had that with homemade chocolate sauce on top.
I have to admit it was a good game. It started out slow but was great the last quarter. If Browns would have caught that Hail Mary, they would have won by one touchdown!
We could see the end of the last quarter that it was begining to snow in Cleveland. We figured about two hours before we got hit. Sure enough, about the time we put Miley out one last time for the night, it started to fall.
First thing out Monday morning, this was what I saw through the dark. Great
