the 4th Weekend

The weekend starts out the same! Friday we were haying. The first of the season. Tommy decided to come in for the weekend, so it worked out great. Ken was called in for help and he and Tommy rode the wagon stacking in the field. Some young men were there before them and had already put up two wagon fulls. After the first wagon the boys did that afternoon, Tommy went up and helped stack in the barn. It was nice because we were all treated to pizza and drinks for the hard work that day.

Ken came over afterwards and treated us to some fireworks before we turned in for the evening.

The next day, Tom and Ken were to run some scrap across the line. They didn't bother to call and found that after driving all the way over there they were closed for the holiday.

So this big hunk of metal funnel sat on the trailer in our yard all weekend long. Good thing we were to busy to notice.

The kids played ball in the side yard for the afternoon and then we had burgers on the grill. It wasn't an all out picnic, but it was just a nice afternoon. Then we went for more fireworks on Sunday night over the state line. They shot them off over the lake and it was a really good show. Tommy was happy. He got to eat a Sonic the Hedgehog ice cream bar.

When Ken came back out Sunday afternoon he brought with him a grill that someone set out to give away. It needs a flame defuser, but Tom said if he can't buy one he will make one at work. It looks fairly new!

Also this weekend, Jessalyn had a job to do. A friend of ours went to Florida to pick up her mother and had ask if Jess would mind coming over and playing with her dog a little and feeding her animals. So every day she went over for about a 1/2 or so and did the dog, chickens, cats.

Monday night Ken came back with Miley to spend the night. He and Tom were taking in the scrap early in the morning so it was easier for him to just stay. But before night fell, we rounded off the weekend by putting up our first hay in the loft. We just have 400 more bales to go. Jessalyn can hardly wait.

Other than stopping back to take a shower, Becky wasn't with us at all. Not to help, not to visit. She worked Friday night, then she was gone off with her boyfriend every chance she got.
