Tonight Tom brought home a pig feeder he had been working on after hours. He and Jess pulled it back to the pen. It is really heavy.
We had to use the tractor to lift it up and put it over the fence. Tom secured it to the post. All they have to do is lift the lid in the front and they can eat. The top is the loader where we can put the food without going in the pen and getting run over.
Well, so much for that idea. PIGS! They lift the lid, dig it out with their hoof and eat it out of the mud. Still to much waste. Tom went in and researched how to perfect it.
As I am coming back from the barn, the sun is setting and giving a very pretty glow through the trees.
Milking done for another day, maybe it will be good to use for the next batch of cheese in three more days.

Maybe put a feed trough under the lid so it catches most of the feed. Maybe that way it won't wasted as much. We had a feeder but it was low to the ground and the pigs lifted the lid and ate right out of the bottom.

Love the pictures how pretty. I hope to someday have lots of farm animals. We are working on chickens! We have a rooster that my sister didn't want. I enjoy watching him roam the yard. I am slowly learning life on a homestead I think cheese is something I will atempt in the far away future :). Have a great day.

What do you think is happening with your cheese? What kind are you trying to make?
I wish our cow was milking now, we're hoping she's bred and will be milking next spring. I give up on the dairy goats. Too much work, too little milk.
Beautiful sunset. I like the pictures.

We've been getting enough milk. 1/2 gallon a day, which is plenty for cheese. I found out that I was making it to hot to quick for it to set with the rennet. I think I got it now!
