Hot and dry with the promise of raindrops occasionally. This means that the water table in not in a good state here. We always watch what we use, always conserving. We were taking the old horse water and using it on the garden instead of just tossing it. Or giving it to the pigs for their mud bath. When things get really bad, we barrel water for the animals and garden. What fun for everyone. Especially when it is hot!
I take a look around and see that camper Tom picked up last year for free. So I drag Becky over to help me hitch it on the tractor and move it out from the tree line into a more accomodating place. Then we open it up. Aagh! Seems as though ants have found a way inside. That is o.k. though. My plan was to strip the thing out. So that is what I did.
It took me less than an hour to pull out the lightweight framework that was inside. I took out the seafoam green vintage sink, and cooktop cover.
The only thing I left was the two hinge top benches and the moveable table from the front of the camper.
I unscrewed, broke apart, pulled out nails. I worked until I could work no more.
Then it finally rained. Things are starting to come up and sprout out.
Today I was looking at my small pile of pickles. I have enough picles to can 6 pints today.
I tried a very easy recipe from Marci for making them. I am anxious to see how they taste.
Last week Becky helped with a soccer camp that one of the younger members of the church organized. While I was waiting, I was amazed at how beautiful the sky was. This is one of the six or seven picture I just couldn't resist taking while waiting for her. Who says you have to be down on the lake to see a great sunset sky?
