Summer's coming

Yesterday was the day we meet for the ladies Bible Study.   It was my turn to host the girls.  I was so glad the weather cooperated.  I was afraid it would already be raining and the driveway and up to the front door would be a mess.   It turned out really nice, almost, almost nice enough to go outside and sit.  But the fans were much better inside.   I had forgotten to pick up something to snack on the day before, so I whipped up some brownie type snacks a little before they came.  It made the house smell good, and they tasted good too!

It was just chocolate chip cookie dough pressed in a cake pan.  I put almond flavor in instead of vanilla, added whatever chips I had (chocolate, choc/rasberry, white chocolate) and some slivered pecans.

After the ladies left, the sun was really out strong, so I decided to pull all that Snow on the Mountain ivy out from between the house and the wild roses.   Loopy watched me but kept a close eye on the hummingbirds that come to the kitchen window feeder.  This is her new favorite spot, on the step outside the front door.

A neighbor had a mishap with her horse last week.  Seems the horse was playing to close to the gate when it hurt it's leg.  Not bad, but enough that it needs some time to heal.  So she ask Jess to keep her eyes open for a horse she can ride in the mean time.   Jess found one, but when the neighbor returned the call, she had found a two for one deal!   The thing that I found a hoot was that she decided to get a haflinger too!  And the baby  to-boot!

This past weekend we stopped by a yard sale and Becky found an old Beatles and an old Bob Dylan album for a buck a piece.   She was so excited!  So last night Tom pulled out my old phono combo and tried putting the needle back in.   Now I remember why I took it out.   It skims over the albums.  Luckily we tried it first with some weird album I must have won on a radio station 25+ years ago.   Well, when that flopped, I wondered how the ol' 8-track would work.  I went in the back and pulled out some good ones.   Nothing like what Tom used to listen to!  Much better than what was on the boob tube last night!

And one more fixer upper.  Over the weekend Tom put my new faucet on.  Wow, no leaks!

Tucked in above my sink :

Thank God for dirty dishes

they have a tale to tell

while others are going hungry

we are fatting very well.

With health and home and family

I shouldn't want to fuss

for by these stacks of dishes

God's been very good to us.
