All Jess wanted was a toasted marshmellow.
That was earlier in the week. Over the Memorial Day weekend, it was hot and dry to start. It had been a wonderful warm, dry week to get a lot of yard work in. Saturday was a perfect morning for a wedding. Some friends of ours that had waited for this day to come finally arrived. It was a beautiful wedding on the bride's parents front porch, in their gazebo.
It stayed dry for the girls to ride in a local small town parade.
I guess the horses s danced a bit when they 21 gun salute went off at the begining, but they weren't that close to the men, either. We took some pictures, video. Tom and I didn't follow them all the way to the cemetary. Apparently, on the way, a tuba player in front of them collapsed from the heat. Needless to say, big thing for the town. The ambulance turned on the siren and came up behind the horses. They had just crossed a small bridge and there really wasn't anywhere for them to go. They moved aside the best they could. Becky was ponying a neighbor friend who has a very spooky horse. After some dancing, Becky was fed up and pulled that pony rope to her and the other woman's horse swung around so the horses were face to face. At least the ambulance could get by....to right in front of them! All went well and everyone stayed on. That was the important thing.
The next day was a great day for grilling. We had Dan, Kacie, and Danny out for a picnic.
Dan and Tom went and treated the horses too.
