approaching the weekend

Without rain for many days makes me nervous about using to much water.   We are trying to recycle the water from the animals to the garden.  I don't think the carrots will do very well this year.  Someone told me a good way to try and plant seeds like that for next year:  add the seeds to dried coffee grounds.   Then when you lay them in line, they don't just plop out of your hand in piles.  It is suppose to make it easier to thin too.

Trying to get the yard "just so" so we can enjoy it on these much cooler days.  I was getting fat and spoiled with the rider mower my dad gave us, so when the spring broke I had to go to my grandma's mulcher.  It worked fine for most of the visual yard, but after the third refill of gas, the starter rope gave out.  Now back to the old hard pushing mower.  Aagh.  Guess I can afford to eat that cookie now.

Another bonus of no rain is that farmers are getting their hay up.  We have about 1/2 of what we need.  Last night we put up another 78 bales.  Tom thought he would let Becky pull the wagon up.  She is much better at going straight than turning around, we found out.

Clean up after dinner is so much easier.  Everything goes to the pigs.  I threw some hot dogs on the grill last night and pulled some buns out of the freezer.   Bakery buns are suppose to be good.  They were awful.  Off to the pigs!  We had leftover macaroni salad but with still some left over, Ididn't want to keep it yet again.  So....off to the pigs!!  Boy, that bacon is going to be good!   I see their little soft, pink rump bopping around and think, "Don't you toughen that ham up, boy!"
