Heat and Gardens

Lots of planting has been done at Muddy Boot Acres.  A blueberry patch has been started just west of the head fencing near the pasture.  We planted five blueberry plants this time.  I hope they take!  I can't wait to make muffins...in a few years.

The garden is coming along.  I had bought a few plants this year as once again, my gardening skills didn't do well with seeds.   I have pepper plants, but they only have two leaves yet.   They better get a boost soon!   If not, I have a back up, as well as a few other plants.

suprisingly, the celery came back with a vengence this year! Good thing too because the man I usually buy it from said none of his came up.

Someone at work gave Tom plenty of plants for us to plant and share.  Last night we were hussling to get strawberry plants in.  His brother had given him some scrap lumber just this past weekend, and wouldn't ya know, they were perfect for raised beds.  I put in 27 hills, with 3 plants each.  This is in addition to the few I bought at the feed mill that are more advanced and have fruit this year.  Just look at that baby!

Since I broke the lawn mower today, I was forced to weed.   It is so much easier when you wait to long.  The weeds are high and easy to see so they can be pulled easier!    I noticed that there weren't very many weeds in my iris bed though.

Some weeds I just can't mow.  These have been growing since last time.   They are just to pretty to cut down right now. We have some right out the mudroom door, and some in the front under a crab apple tree.

All this yard work  and it is so hot!  Wouldn't it figure?   No pool this year.  I saw people in theirs yesterday when I was out.   Our sad, so sad pool.
