Christmas time, Family time

The week before Christmas all the people in Release Time gathered a little early  for a small luncheon at the church.   So many good desserts!

Tom took me in after church one Sunday and we were sure to put the wreaths on the grandparents headstones.

The Sunday before Christmas the Northeast was hit by winter storms.   The weather caused layovers and we watched and waited to see if Tom would make it in on time.  Technology can be great sometimes, because in this case we could see just where the plane was!

The connecting flight was coming from Phlilly and the weather had put it back over an hour.   With the lay over time, he still made Cleveland's commuter and made it home at the scheduled time.  He was the last one off the plane I think.  We were all waiting!!Home and settled, the next day was time to make some local calls.  A new feature is the mustache. He hasn't had it long, and  It only lasted a day here and then he shaved it off.

The weather was breaking, and we really didn't have much snow at first.  He rented a car for two days and did some running around and visiting on his own.  He visited friends, then took Becky out for the day.  Having fun and listening to a Bob Dylan Christmas CD  that he bought.  Then the day he returned the rental it started to snow. It never got really bad though.   The weather was good almost all week.   It was so nice one day that Rebekah and Tom decided to go out and make a snowman.

Christmas eve everyone came to candlelight service.   Even Ken came down.  It was nice.  I can't remember the last time we all were there together Christmas Eve.   We came home and wrapped a few more presents and then off to bed.Although Jessalyn wanted to keep her own tradition of staying up (or getting up) at 2:00 a.m., the rest of us slept in.   It was 7:30 or so before everyone was up.   Sure is different when they are older!

Some of us just enjoyed the lemonade....too much...

The week went by too fast, and the repacking had to be started.

Before we knew it, it was time to drive to the airport and fly out.

So a few more family pictures,

some words of wisdom from Grandpa, and back to Texas he went.

We went out to the van and with a little help from Ken and his car, we got going and headed back home.

only 65 more day until Tech school is done and then he will find his way back home again!

I am sure you had a wonderful Christmas just having him home. We watched the plane online when Joshua went to Africa. We did not realize that the site we went to, only did domestic flights. The plane got out over the ocean so far and then just disappeared from the screen. That was scary!!!
