The rain may be tapering off

but it has left behind a mucky mess.   But the horses are dry!   I am so very thankful for that.  They may be antsy to get out with the temperatures rising, but they are staying dry!

Tom and I used the gift certificate Becky gave us for Christmas.  It was to  O'Charlies  .   I thought it would be the same as any other restaurant, but was pleasantly proved wrong.   I had ordered a hot and sweet papaya chicken and rice  and when it arrived I thought " Uh, huh.  Like this is worth the money."  Well,  let me tell you, it was good and it kept me full all night!  Tom had  steak combo with chicken tenders and he felt the same way.   Well, less the salad.  It was my kind of salad with goodies all over it, so I took it from his order and ate it.   He got to keep the honey rolls.   The neat part is I saw a friend I had worked with in high school.  I knew it was him right away because of his high energy.  He travels all over opening and training new people for the restaurant.

I took Becky to her last day of release time yesterday (kids get out of school for lessons at the local church) and visited our local library where they have DSL.   While catching up on blogs, I had a laugh while visiting The Journey .  She has a few things to say about the things she had seen recently.

Still on the run in with his new freedom,  Ken found hiimself down at the local fire station last night.  He came home as a volunteer.  How that is going to coincide with the EMT classes at the moment I don't know, but he is going to give it a try.

I found some goodies while cleaning out my closet recently.  I have gotten on a spring kick of trying to get one room a week done and keep it that way.  I did a few of the kiddos, now it is my turn.  So I traveled down memory road when I came across some boxes in the closet.  I found dolls that was given by my Uncle Jim when he was in the Navy back in the late '60's.   He would send dolls from all over the world as he traveled.   This is an exception.  He sent back a dress and matching purse for my mother and I (her's was red)  from Greece.

In the bottom of one of the smaller boxes, I found a few of these.   I bought a "cool"  mock denim sleeping bag with them.  I remember walking into the store across town and looking everything over before my big purchase.  Today, it's insides have become the quilt I made covering it with a light cotton denim and my children's hands for the applique`.

One more cool thing.  Anyone remember these?  You would push them in the canvas and make all kinds of things.   I wish I had more of the pieces!
