Visitors from the City

Well, sort of.   I had a great visit with my friend since childhood.  We grew up across the street from each other.  Back then the road was paved, but it was farmland (now it has been sold and subdivisions have moved in over the hundreds of acres).  Every morning I woke to hear her dad's rooster crowing.   I would go over  and watch her mom washing the eggs in her big, big sink (that I have yet to find one like it to put in my own kitchen).  Her mother never knew what an impression she made on me.  Look where I am now!   I live here on the homestead, and my friend has stayed in town. We have kept in touch through many years, but we just couldn't  ever seem to pull away to get together and visit.   Today,  she came out to our place and brought her younger of two daughters and her son.   Her daughter loves animals, but because they live in the city are restricted to dogs and cats.   Today they came out and her daughter got a chance to see all our goats, horses, chickens, and small animals.   She even had the chance to milk one of the does.   Much harder than it looks for her!   She loves horses.   Her aunt has many but she doesn't get to ride.   Today she was chaparoned by my daugher and then decided to try the reins herself.   It seems that everyone had a good time.
