Hey, it's Hay

Wonderful weather has brought haying season into swing here for the last few days.   It is to get very humid today, but we may be able to get a good load in before that happens.  It was so light yesterday,  So much better than those heavy ones we tried to get in the last minutre end of last season.

We took our little doeling up to her new home when we went to hay.  Mom was really not producing milk like she was suppose to.  She was never a good milker.  The only other time she kidded she kept breaking blood vessels and I had pink milk.    When I did milk her she gave no more than a quart at  a time.    I'm not sure if I should just let her go or if I should try and increase her production, even if a little.   Friends that we used their buck have offered to lend us her last doe that is still in milk if we want it.  I may just borrow until fall at least, when I can get Belle bred.  She is a better milker.   Not as good as Callie was, though.

  Poor Callie.

Hi there! I really enjoyed reading your blog this morning. Your garden is beautiful!! That is a great idea to use tires for raised beds. I bet you'll have better luck with your carrots this year that way. I use raised beds for my carrots because we also have clay. I never could get them to work before, but they do great in raised beds with nice composted soil.

I'm sorry the deer ate your day lilies. I've got chipmunks eating my strawberries.

Happy haying! Holly
