on a hot day would be push mowing the whole lawn even whn it is raining, and thunder is in the distance. Surviving a heat headache, I can now sit back and enjoy the yard for a day or two before starting all over again. It sure will be nice to get the rider back. The two time I used it, it took only 1 1/2 hours not including some trim work. Pushing takes better part of four, but including the trim.
I have been spending time working on the gardens, so I can see where the wood chips are finally paying off by keeping the weeds at bay. I have a nice barren strip infront of that too that I keep clean so mowing is easier riding or pushing. The chickens have basically given up the thrill of spreading them throughout the grass so it stays nice.
Ialso finished the book I had been reading for over a month now. Picking it up here and there. By author Lynn Austin, "Candle in the Darkness". http://www.faithfulreader.com/features/15_austin_lynn.asp A regular topic for me, it was about the strong-willed belles of the south during the civil war. I love reading about that era. Civil war and pioneer women. Since I know that God says I must be submissive (and I am STILL working on that) I can temporailly live out these women's lives. They are written from Christian authors, so it is written on a Christian prospective using facts and scripture so I suppose it influences me whether I like it or not!
With it being a much cooler day, we can keep the man doors closed and I can start attacking some of these flies that came in. It had been so hot that I covered the windows with dark material but had to open the man doors and put a fan in to bring in the cooler air. Real farm house with the flies and all. Yuck.

That's a long time to mow the lawn with the push mower. We have a rider now and I love it-hope you get yours back soon.
My parents had the pushing rotary blade mowers for us kids. I would like to get one of those just for doing small areas that are hard to get with the rider.
My chickens make a mess of the wood chips in my garden paths, too.
