As time goes by

I wonder where it all went.   It has been such a long time since I have posted, but yet it seems like it was just time to get ready for Christmas when I was on posting last.

Since then,  most cookies have been made and eaten, decorations have been up and down and packed away for another year. Here up in the northeast,  Christmastime slipped by almost like any other time day because of the weather we have been having.   We aren't use to having such a green (or brown here at Muddy Boot) winter season.   It made me wonder how much we emphasize the gala of the Christmas season and not the reason why we celebrate this day to begin with.   The struggle of cold and snow and getting caught up in it all.   It kind of goes with the glitz of the holiday.   Take it away and you really have to look at what you are celebrating.  This is something I have been trying to reach for a long time.  Trying to achieve this is a struggle in itself when pushed by the world to out decorate and out buy the next person.

Things that have helped me keep more on track is making different versions of a Jesse Tree.

http://www.domestic-church.com/CONTENT.DCC/19971201/FRIDGE/FRIDGE1.HTM  I started this a few years back when the children were younger, and it continues on.   I also have tried using the Advent wreath.  http://apmethodist.org/advent-readsing.htm If only for a moment,  we are called back to why we have/needed this day.

I didn't have these opportunities as a child, but hope that even these few things I can now pass on and maybe make a difference on how the next generation will percieve the best gift that some of us forget to open.

Luke 1:30-33

30But the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. 31You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. 32He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end."
